Ingredients

PUPCAKES

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour - can also use whole wheat if preferred
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter - ensure this only contains peanuts and there is no xylitol toxic to dogs
  • ½ cup pure pumpkin puree - not pumpkin pie filling also toxic to dogs
  • ½ cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 large egg

FROSTING

  • ¾ cup plain greek yogurt
  • cup peanut butter

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with 8 cupcake liners or lightly grease it.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. In a separate bowl, mix together the melted peanut butter, pumpkin puree, applesauce, and egg until smooth.
  • Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until it’s all mixed together. The batter should be thick but smooth.
  • Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.
  • Pop those cupcakes in the oven and bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  • If you really want to go all out, mix together the Greek yogurt and peanut butter for a simple, dog-friendly frosting. Once the cupcakes are cool, frost away! Add a dog treat or sprinkle on top for some extra flair.
  • Now for the best part—watch your dog go absolutely nuts for their birthday treat! These cupcakes are safe, healthy, and totally delicious for your pup.
