Air Fryer Apple Chips (Easy Cinnamon Recipe)
Air fryer apple chips are crispy, cinnamon-spiced apple slices made with 2 ingredients in about 25 minutes. Naturally gluten free, no dehydrator, and so much better than the bagged kind.

I have made these so many times I have lost count, and they vanish off the cooling rack faster than I can slice the next apple.
Air fryer apple chips are thinly sliced apples seasoned with cinnamon and crisped in the air fryer until they snap like a chip. Two ingredients, about 25 minutes start to finish, and a snack that actually crunches. These are a whole-food snack with real fiber from the apple, naturally gluten-free, and you don’t need a single thing added to make them taste like fall in a bowl.
The first batch I ever made came out chewy and sad because I cut the slices way too thick. Now I run them paper-thin on a mandoline and they crisp up every single time.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Apple Chips
You need 2 ingredients, plus a couple of optional add-ins if you want them sweeter. Exact measurements and nutrition are in the recipe card at the bottom.
- Apples โ sweet varieties crisp up sweeter, so I reach for Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala. Want them more tart, use Granny Smith. Any apple works, this is a great way to use up the ones going soft in the fruit bowl.
- Ground cinnamon โ the more the better. Apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice swap right in for a cozy fall version.
- Coconut oil spray (optional) โ helps the cinnamon stick and gives a little extra crisp. Skip it if you want fully oil-free chips, they still work.
- Maple syrup or coconut sugar (optional) โ a light drizzle or sprinkle if you want a candied, sweeter chip.

How to Make Apple Chips in the Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 300ยฐF.
- Wash and slice your apples paper-thin with a mandoline or a very sharp knife. Leave the core in or cut it out, your call. An apple corer makes quick work of it.
- Spray or brush the slices lightly with coconut oil and sprinkle both sides with cinnamon.
- Lay the slices in a single layer in the basket, trying not to overlap them. Air fry for 12 minutes, flip, then air fry another 10 minutes. Times vary by air fryer, so watch them near the end.
- Move them to a plate or cooling rack. They firm up as they sit for 1 to 2 minutes on the counter.
- Snack on the first batch while the next apple cooks. That’s the best part.

Tips For The Crispiest Apple Chips
The number one thing that decides crispy versus chewy is how thin you slice. The thinner the slice, the better the crunch, which is why a mandoline beats a knife every time.
- Keep the slices in a single layer with space between them. More exposed surface means more crisp.
- Pull them when they look golden and still feel slightly bendy. They finish crisping on the counter as they cool, so they don’t have to feel rigid coming out.
- Softer or juicier apples hold more water, so give them a few extra minutes.
- Don’t stress about perfect, even slices. Smaller pieces just cook a touch faster.

How To Store Apple Chips
Let the chips cool all the way before they go in a container. If you seal them while they’re still warm, trapped steam turns them soft.
Store them at room temperature in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days. A ziplock bag works too. They soften over time no matter what you do, so these are at their absolute best made fresh the day you want them.

Air Fryer Apple Chips FAQ
Do You Have To Peel Apples Before Making Apple Chips?
No, peeling is optional. I leave the skin on for the extra fiber and texture, and it holds the chip together. Peel them if you prefer a smoother, more delicate chip.
Can You Make Apple Chips In The Oven Instead?
Yes. Lay the seasoned slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 200ยฐF for about 2 hours, flipping halfway. The air fryer is much faster, but the oven works great if you’re making a big batch.
Are Air Fryer Apple Chips A Healthy Snack?
They’re a whole-food snack with fiber from the apple, naturally gluten free, and there’s no added sugar unless you choose to add it. You control exactly what goes on them, which is the whole reason homemade beats the bagged version.
