These tiramisu protein overnight oats are the perfect high protein oatmeal recipe with simple ingredients. Packed with heart-healthy oats, unsweetened Greek yogurt, and nutrient-dense chia seeds, these chocolate and coffee flavoured overnight oats are the best way to start your busy mornings.

Indulge in dessert for breakfast with these creamy and healthy tiramisu overnight oats! The benefits of overnight oats are endless.

Not only are you getting a high protein overnight oats recipe, but you are feeding your gut with rich fiber and protein content. Chia overnight oats also contain a number of vitamins and minerals, some of which include manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc.

One of the reasons I love protein overnight oats is because you can take the same basic overnight oats and add different fruits and toppings to create different flavors. I love eating the same thing for breakfast many days in a row, but eventually I get tired of it and it’s nice to be able to switch it up.

A basic overnight oatmeal recipe is an easy way to get extra protein in the morning. Instead of figuring out complex meals, you just add a scoop of protein powder to your make-ahead breakfast and you’re set!

This overnight oats recipe with protein powder is the perfect way to start hitting your protein goal for the day. You’re eating something that tastes like dessert, while hitting over 40g of protein for the day!

The best part is you can meal prep 3-4 of these in the morning and have healthy recipes for the entire week. That’s a win-win in my books!

You will need the following ingredients listed below to make these overnight proats (the exact measurements are in the recipe card below):

  • Gluten-free old-fashioned oats or quick oats – It’s not required to use gluten free for the recipe to work, but you can if you want to lower gluten content.
  • Chia Seeds – They help thicken the overnight oats by absorbing some of the liquid that might be seeping from the almond milk. Chia overnight oats are the best kind of overnight oats and add lots of healthy fats to the recipe!
  • Whey Protein powder – My favourite type of protein powder is PEScience vanilla protein powder and you can use code BAILEY at checkout for a special deal on all their products! They have really good vegan protein powder and chocolate protein powder.
  • just a hint of pure maple syrup for sweetness.
  • Almond Milk – I prefer almond milk as it has a very neutral flavour in these making them almond milk overnight oats, but any non-dairy milk will work here. Cashew milk, coconut milk, oat milk, hemp milk or soy can be used and regular cow’s milk will do the job as well if you would prefer to use that.
  • Espresso – you can use espresso or coffee for these high protein overnight oats. I would recommend using espresso if you have it as it has a stronger, bolder flavour that really shines through in this recipe!
  • White Chocolate Chips – you can use a vegan brand for dairy-free.
  • Greek yogurt – thick coconut yogurt would be the best vegan substitution here.
  • Cocoa powder – very important in these high-protein overnight oats as it gives them the chocolate flavour that is essential in tiramisu overnight oats.
  • Optional add ins – cottage cheese for another great source of protein, or other fresh fruit to top the oats with. Pure maple syrup or chocolate chips are also other optional add ins if you want it sweeter, it all comes down to personal preference.

HOW TO MAKE THESE CREAMY OVERNIGHT OATS

  1. Add all oat ingredients to a bowl or mason jar. Stir well and refrigerate while you get the espresso ganache topping ready.
  2. Microwave white chocolate in 30 second intervals. Mix in with greek yogurt and espresso. I used a wire whisk to get rid of lumps.
  3. Remove oats from refrigerator and pour ganache overtop. Put back in fridge for 4 hours minimum, or overnight to set.
  4. In the morning, sift cocoa powder overtop. Just like that you’ve got yourself a delicious protein overnight oats recipe! Grab and go!

WHAT TYPE OF OATMEAL FOR THESE HEALTHY OVERNIGHT OATS RECIPES?

One of the most common questions I hear is can I use quick oats for overnight oats? And the answer is yes!

I recommend using quick oats or rolled oats for any of your overnight protein oats, but staying away from steel cut oats.

ARE OVERNIGHT OATS HEALTHY?

Yes, protein oats offer a wide variety of health benefits. They are rich in fibre and have a high protein content, especially with the added protein powder that is also added.

They also contain a number of vitamins and minerals, some of which include manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. This makes overnight oats healthy for your gut, as well as for overall health and well-being.

CALORIES IN OVERNIGHT OATS

The calories in overnight oats recipes depends on many factors. If it’s a basic overnight oats flavour, something like a Chocolate Peanut Butter Overnight Oats it may be less calories than these tiramisu protein overnight oats.

Something like an almond milk overnight oats will be less calories than an oat milk high protein oatmeal recipe.

An overnight oats recipe with protein powder will be more calories than a recipe without, however it will contain more grams of protein to keep you satiated throughout the day.

BENEFITS OF OVERNIGHT OATS VS COOKED

The benefits of overnight oats are different when they are cooked vs when they are soaked. When you soak oats overnight, the process is much slower and longer than actually cooking them.

Soaking them helps the starches break down and will end up reducing the natural phytic acid. This may help your body utilize the oats nutrients more efficiently than if they were cooked.
