There are MANY methods for cooking the perfect hard-boiled egg. You can make them the traditional way, on a stove, in boiling water, in a steaming basket, in an Instant Pot, and even in your oven. But using my air fryer has become by far my favorite method! Yes, that’s right! You can boil eggs in an air fryer!

This easy method for air fryer hard boiled eggs method is definitely one you will want to try if you like to include boiled eggs into your diet. There’s no need to wait for the water to boil, no watching, and it’s completely hands-off. Air frying eggs is stupid easy and you will wonder why you ever bothered boiling them.  I also like that we are not adding any additional fat to the eggs as we would with frying.

HOW TO COOK EGGS IN AN AIR FRYER?

Boiling eggs in an air fryer could not be easier. I start by preheating the air fryer to 250°F. You could skip this step and just add an extra couple of minutes to the cooking time but I like to start by preheating.

Now, just place the eggs in the air fryer basket, set the timer anywhere between 13 and 16 minutes and wait until they’re cooked to your desired doneness.

Air fry hard boiled eggs will take about 16 minutes while air fry soft boil eggs will already be done after 13 minutes. At this point I always like to mention that Air fryers are like microwaves and all of them have different wattages. So every air fryer is basically a bit different and your eggs might take a bit longer or less time to cook. So try it with one or two eggs first and don’t put a whole carton in there if this is your first time.

As soon as your eggs are cooked, place them in an ice water bath, made with cold water and ice cubes. This final step helps to immediately stop the cooking process and it also makes them so easy to peel. You can alternatively just run them under cold running water for a minute.

Your boiled eggs will come out perfectly cooked and here’s another perk: they are easy to peel!

WAYS TO USE AIR FRIED EGGS

You can use the air fryer hard boiled eggs to make delicious egg salad, deviled eggs, or slice them for a high-protein salad topping, place them on avocado toast or grate them over avocado toast. You can also include them in your next  Brunch Board or use them to make the ultimate charcuterie board

STORAGE

Unpeeled hard boiled eggs, can be stored in any container in the fridge. For peeled eggs, you can store them in a bowl of cold water to cover. You want to make sure to change the water daily. Alternatively, you can store them in a sealed container without adding the water. Instead, you will want to cover the eggs with damp paper towels to keep them from drying out.

CAN YOU FREEZE HARD BOILED EGGS?

As for the yolks, yes. However, I have heard that the eggs become a bit tough and rubbery after thawing, or can even leak and change color. Cooked yolks, when placed in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag, will stay good for up to 3 months.

Now that I have discovered this method, I cannot wait to try more air fryer breakfast recipes. What is your favourite air fryer breakfast hack? Share it in the comment section below.
