Just making thus bread wish me luck😰😉. What did you use to grease loaf pan? If adding cheese/chives do you add before adding the beer? Last question once everything combined what should the consistency be of the dough. Mine wasn’t smooth, did I over mix??? Thxs
Hi Betty! I just use cooking spray! But you can use vegan butter or anything you have on hand. When adding the cheese and chives add it before the beer yes! And the dough will be very lumpy and thick! DO NOT over-mix as this will make the bread tougher! Just mix until everything is combined! Good luck!! 🙂
Hi Jen! Yes non alcoholic beer should work fine, as you are using the beer for the yeast!
Hi there I tried this recipe this morning and it’s wonderful. Just a quick question omg ei got thinking about it after. I’ve heard in other recipes to have the beer be flat but yours never mentioned it so I didn’t. Just wanted to make sure that’s correct. Haha
Thanks again for sharing!!! Loved it I can wait to make more with added flavours 🙂 and gluten free flour for my celiac friends ❤️
Hi Lindsay! Thank you so much for the comment and 5 star review! The beer does not need to be flat no! Let me know how it turns out gluten free, I tried it with buckwheat flour and it wasn’t great! I have had a few people try with all purpose 1:1 gluten free flour and said it was dense but not half bad!
Is there any particular kind of sugar you should use?
Hi Corinne! I haven’t actually tested this recipe with bread flour but I think it will work great! May just have a slightly higher rise in the bread! Let me know if you test it out and what you think! 🙂
Hi Cindy! Yes non alcoholic beer should work fine! You are using the beer because it contains yeast which helps the bread rise! Let me know if you try it and what you think! 🙂
Sorry this might be a stupid question but would you know if this is okay for pregnant women? Would the alcohol cook off? I’m thinking non alcoholic beer might work because it’s the active hops that we’re looking for?
Hi Ashley! I’m not 100% sure if the alcohol would cook off completely. Non alcoholic beer should work totally fine, to be on the safe side!
Made it with whole wheat flour-tasted great! Thanks for the recipe 🙂 have been wanting to make bread in quarantine but found it very hard to get my hands on some yeast !
This was amazing! I made a bunch of them yesterday for us and a few of our neighbors. I did 2 GF versions – one using Wendel’s flour (absorbed all the butter before I even baked it and came out like cardboard), the other using Cup4Cup Multipurpose Flour which was amazing, but is unfortunately not vegan. Cup4Cup has a GF bread flour which I will try next if I can get my hands on some! I used Bard’s GF beer and Earth Balance vegan butter and they were perfect.
Hi Sasha! Thank you so much for the 5 star review and taking the time to leave a comment! AND testing all these different variations out!! I have also heard it works very well with Bobs 1:1 all purpose gluten free flour. The Cup4Cup bread flour will probably work amazing! So glad you enjoyed the recipe 🙂
Just made this and it’s delicious! Really trying not to eat the whole loaf in one sitting…
Honestly the biggest struggle with this recipe!! Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment and 5 star review 🙂
Just made this delicious beer bread. My first time making bread ever! I added regular butter, cheese and some pickled jalapenos to mine. It tasted amazing! My husband had one bite and then quickly helped himself to another and made us a quick sandwich to enjoy. One mistake I made was used parchment paper and the bottom got stuck a bit.
Hi Bianca! I’m so glad you two loved it! As fo the parchment paper – all you need is cooking spray and it comes out SO easily!! Try that next time! Thank you for the 5 star review 🙂
OH MY GOSH this bread was so easy and fantastic!!! Made it for my husband and I and we ate half the loaf in one sitting! Thank you so much for this recipe I will be making this on repeat!!
Best BREAD EVER. I am no baker whatsoever and this always turns out AMAZING. First bread I’ve ever made was this and now I make it multiple times a year!
I’m SO happy to hear that! Thank you so so much for the 5 star review it is so appreciated!! 🙂
I’ve actually tried a similar recipe and used a dark beer (stout) instead and liked the flavor! It’s definitely a heavier flavor but if you enjoy beer, dark beers work too 🙂
Thanks for the input! I may need to try this myself!
This was SO easy and it is absolutely delicious. The crispy buttery crust is outstanding! Has anyone tried to make ahead and freeze? Did you slice it first? Want to send loaves back to college with my daughter. 5 star recipe!

Is there any particular kind of sugar you should use?
Hi Holly! I use granulated white sugar, but others have used honey in place and cane sugar and both came out beautifully!!
Could you use bread flour instead of all purpose?

Can you use no alcohol beer?

I can’t wait to try this recipe! Do you think I could do half all purpose flour and half almond flour?
