  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low-medium heat. Add in sugar slowly and whisk continuously (this step is very important as it helps melt the sugar, which will give the brownies a the flakey crackly crust on the top).ย Continue whisking for approx 1-2 minutes after all the sugar has dissolved.

  3. Transfer the butter mixture over to a large bowl and let cool slightly. Add in eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously between each egg, then add the vanilla.

  4. In a separate bowl, sift the cocoa powder, gluten free flour, baking powder and salt.

  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Transfer over to the prepared pan and top with chocolate chips, cacao nibs, or chopped nuts if you desire.

Tips And Tricks For Best Results

  • Donโ€™t skip the sugar melting stepโ€”this is what gives that signature shiny top
  • Slightly underbake for fudgier brownies (they firm up as they cool)
  • Use good quality cocoa powder like dutch-process cocoa โ€”it makes a big difference in the chocolate flavor

Different Variations For The Fudgy Brownies

    1. Add chunks of your favourite chocolate candy bar to the mix. Chop up 1 large candy bar into small pieces and add them to your brownie mix, I love adding Skor pieces, or Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.
    2. Add chopped nuts to your brownie mix.ย Chop up some nuts with a knife or a food processor and add them to your mix before baking. I LOVE adding in raw unsalted almonds to my brownies!
    3. Top theย brownies with frosting. After your brownies are done baking, and have cooled a little, add your favourite frosting to the top. This will hide the beautiful flakey crust on top we worked so hard to achieve, but it really does make them taste EVEN better!
    4. Make cheesecake brownies. Swirl in some cream cheese to the mix! BOOM!

    Storing Leftovers

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week. You can also freeze them for longerโ€”just thaw at room temp or microwave for a few seconds when you want one.

    Faqs

    Can I make these dairy-free?
They already are if youโ€™re using vegan butterโ€”just double check your chocolate chips.

    What gluten-free flour works best?
A 1:1 baking blend like Bobโ€™s Red Mill works great here for texture and consistency.

How do I know when theyโ€™re done?
The edges should be set and the center slightly soft. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter.

    Can I add mix-ins?
Absolutely. Nuts, caramel, white chocolateโ€”go wild.

Okay..these brownies were amazing! Made them for Easter dinner dessert and the fam was very impressed. I only had a 13×9 pan so I increased the recipe by 33% and it was perfect! Baked for the same amount of time and you BET I added Reese’s cups on top.

      1. Hi Marisa,

Thank you so much for the 5 star review and kind words!! So glad your family loved them!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Can I use coconut sugar instead of white sugar?

      1. Hi Shantelle,

Yes you should be able to! Coconut sugar is not as sweet as white sugar so you may need to use a bit more!

    5. Mary McClelland says:

What do you think would happen if you made these with oat flour or regular flour? They look delicious!

      1. Hi Mary!

Regular flour would be totally fine! Oat flour I’m not too sure about as I haven’t tested the recipe with it! Let me know if you try them out! ๐Ÿ™‚

    6. I was just wondering how long can these be stored for?

      1. Hi Anya,

They will be good for up to a week! Any longer and I would suggest freezing them so they stay tasting fresh! ๐Ÿ™‚

    7. Thx for recommending a brand of GF flour. Bobโ€™s Red Mill has 2 choices: โ€œ1 to 1โ€ GF flour and โ€œAll Purposeโ€ GF flour. Which do you prefer for brownies?

      1. Hi Alice,

I typically use the 1 to 1 gf flour for most of my recipes. If the grocery store is out I’ve purchased the all purpose and it’s worked great too! Either or will do the trick ๐Ÿ™‚

    8. Hi. Can I sub coconut oil for the butter? I use a refined organic one that has no aftertaste

      1. Hi Ana,

I have not tried that substitution so I can’t say for certain. It should work fine though!

    9. Awesome recipe! Just made this today and poured the batter into muffin paper cups. The texture is very nice and the flavor is rich but not overly sweet. I did not add chocolate chips or any nuts this time but I will try adding them next time. I will be making these again! Thank you for sharing.
