Ninja Creami Berry Smoothie Bowl (High Protein, 5 Ingredients)

This Ninja Creami berry smoothie bowl is made with frozen mixed berries, banana, Greek yogurt, milk, and protein powder โ€” spun on the Smoothie Bowl setting into a thick, creamy soft-serve texture with over 25 grams of protein. Better than any cafรฉ smoothie bowl and ready in minutes.

Regular smoothie bowls are fine. A Ninja Creami smoothie bowl is something else entirely.

The machine spins the frozen berry base into this thick, soft-serve texture that is genuinely nothing like what a blender produces โ€” it’s denser, creamier, and cold in a way that feels more like dessert than breakfast. Which is exactly the energy we want at 8am on a Tuesday.

Five ingredients, 5 minutes of actual work, 24 hours of freezer time, and then the most satisfying breakfast bowl you’ve made all week.

Ingredients You’ll Need

(Full measurements are in the recipe card below.)

  • Vanilla protein powder โ€” optional but turns this into a genuinely filling breakfast with 25+ grams of protein. PEScience Vanilla or any vanilla protein you enjoy works. Skip it if you just want a lighter smoothie bowl.
  • Frozen mixed berries โ€” the flavor base. Use a bag of frozen mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries) for the best color and a complex berry flavor. Fresh berries work too since you’re freezing the mixture anyway โ€” just make sure they’re blended completely smooth.
  • Frozen banana โ€” half a frozen banana adds natural sweetness and creaminess to the base. Freeze ripe bananas ahead of time and keep them in a zip-lock bag โ€” they’re a staple for smoothie bowl bases.
  • Greek yogurt โ€” adds protein, creaminess, and a subtle tang that balances the sweetness of the berries. Use full-fat or 2% for the richest texture. Fage and Siggi’s both work beautifully here.
  • Milk of choice โ€” just a small amount to help everything blend smoothly. Almond milk, oat milk, whole milk, or Fairlife all work. Don’t add too much โ€” the base needs to be thick enough to freeze properly.

How to Make a Ninja Creami Berry Smoothie Bowl

  1. Blend everything smooth. Add the frozen berries, banana, Greek yogurt, milk, and protein powder to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth โ€” no chunks, no lumps, no berry seeds visible. This step matters: the Ninja Creami blade can be damaged by large chunks of frozen fruit, so make sure the mixture is completely smooth before freezing.
  2. Pour into the Ninja Creami pint. Transfer the blended mixture to your Ninja Creami pint container. Do not fill above the max fill line.
  3. Freeze for 24 hours. Place the pint on a flat, level surface in the freezer. Level is important โ€” an uneven pint creates an uneven freeze which affects texture.
  4. Warm the outside. Before processing, run the outside of the frozen pint under warm water for 30โ€“60 seconds. This loosens the edges and helps the machine process it evenly.
  5. Spin on Smoothie Bowl. Install the pint and press the Smoothie Bowl button. Let the full cycle run.
  6. Check texture and respin if needed. If the result looks crumbly or powdery, add 1โ€“2 tablespoons of milk to the center and hit Respin. This is completely normal โ€” most smoothie bowls benefit from at least one respin. The final texture should be thick and spoonable like soft-serve frozen yogurt.
  7. Scoop and top. Scoop into a bowl and immediately add your toppings. Serve right away โ€” the texture is best fresh off the machine.

Blend until truly smooth. Any chunks of frozen fruit left in the mixture can damage the Ninja Creami blade during processing. Blend for a full 60 seconds and check before pouring into the pint.

The respin is your friend. If the first spin produces a powdery or crumbly texture, don’t worry โ€” just add a splash of milk and respin. One or two respins almost always gets you to the right consistency.

Freeze perfectly level. Tilt the pint even slightly and the mixture freezes unevenly, which throws off the machine’s spin. Set it on a flat shelf and don’t move it.

Topping Ideas

The toppings are where smoothie bowls become worth photographing:

  • Fresh mixed berries, sliced banana, or kiwi
  • Granola โ€” adds the crunch that turns this from breakfast to an event
  • Chia seeds or hemp hearts for extra protein and fiber
  • A drizzle of peanut butter, almond butter, or honey
  • Shredded coconut for a tropical feel
  • Cacao nibs or mini chocolate chips for a dessert angle

Flavor Variations

  1. Acai bowl style โ€” add one frozen acai packet to the berry mix before blending. Deep purple color, classic acai bowl flavor.
  2. Tropical โ€” swap the mixed berries for frozen mango and pineapple chunks. Use coconut milk instead of regular milk. Blend the pineapple thoroughly first since its fibers can stress the blade.
  3. Strawberry banana โ€” use all frozen strawberries instead of mixed berries and increase the banana to a full half for a sweeter, simpler base.
  4. Green smoothie bowl โ€” replace berries with frozen spinach, add half an avocado, and use vanilla protein powder to balance the green taste. Top with kiwi and hemp hearts.

Store the leftover smoothie bowl base in the Ninja Creami pint with the lid on in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready for round two, let the pint sit on the counter for 5 minutes then run the outside under warm water and respin on the Smoothie Bowl or Respin setting. The texture comes back beautifully. Don’t store already-spun smoothie bowl in the fridge โ€” it melts and the texture doesn’t recover.
