Whenever I need a crowd pleasing appetizer, this Pizza Dip Recipe is one of my favourites to cook. It takes 5 minutes to prepare, and gets eaten faster than any other appetizer or snack!

Let’s get real, who doesn’t love pizza? I can’t say I know too many who do.

So why not combine the delicious cheesy goodness flavours of indulgent pizza with a dip? Introducing, pepperoni pizza dip!

Growing up I ate so much Pizza Hut and Boston Pizza. Who remembers those pizza hut dips and dominos pizza dips?

I sure do, but this is a billion times better than that pizza dipping sauce. This cream cheese dip is the real deal!

The combination of the gooey cheese, the smaller pieces of crispy pepperoni, and the full fat cream cheese is a match made in heaven. It is such a great dip made with simple ingredients and will quickly become a new family favorite.

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED FOR THIS HOT CHEESY DIP APPETIZER

You will need the following ingredients listed below to make the warm dip (the exact measurements and full recipe are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post):

  • softened cream cheese – in this cream cheese pizza dip, the cream cheese is absolutely necessary! You could swap for a vegan cream cheese if you preferred to lower to dairy content.
  • unsweetened greek yogurt – In this pizza sauce dip recipe you definitely want to make sure you’re choosing unsweetened greek yogurt without any added sugars. It’s easy enough to grab vanilla by mistake so just be cautious of this! Another option could be a pizza dip recipe with sour cream, and you could simply swap the greek yogurt out for sour cream.
  • Italian seasoning
  • garlic powder
  • pizza sauce – marinara sauce or tomato sauce.
  • mozzarella
  • parmesan cheese – I like using freshly grated parmesan cheese for this pizza cheese dip recipe. It adds another level of depth as oppose to the store bought parmesan that most use on their spaghetti or lasagna recipes.
  • whole pepperoni slices
  • salt + pepper
  • fresh basil – fresh is key! Way better than dried basil in this recipe, however that would work as well if that’s all you have on hand!
  • Optional – any of your favorite pizza toppings like cheddar cheese, green peppers, green onions, red pepper flakes, red onion, etc.

HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE FOR PIZZA DIP – STEP BY STEP

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a pie pan or casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium size mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese, greek yogurt, Italian seasoning and garlic salt.
  3. Spread into a pie pan or small casserole dish. Then layer with the pizza sauce overtop.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce. Then add the parmesan cheese. Finally, add the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is browned. I broiled mine for the last 2 minutes (watching VERY closely as you don’t want it to burn).
  6. Cool for 5 minutes at room temperature, add freshly chopped basil leaves, then serve with toasted sourdough bread, pita chips, or your favorite chips! Enjoy!

STORING YOUR CHEESY PEPPERONI DIP

Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for 3-5 days. I would not recommend freezing your pizza dip with cream cheese as the dairy separates after freezing/reheating.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS EASY PEPPERONI PIZZA DIP RECIPE

  • Unlike other pizza dip recipes, this one contains unsweetened greek yogurt for a high protein boost!
  • This pepperoni dip is so easy to make ahead of time, making it the perfect appetizer or football season party snack. Make it the night before and toss it in the oven when you’re ready to serve!
  • You don’t need to make pizza dough. I mean, you could make some for dipping, but fresh sourdough or gluten free tortilla chips work perfectly fine as well!
  • So many options for toppings. If you like veggies on your pizza add some black olives, mushrooms, onions, spinach, or even some bacon, sausage or ham! This pizza dip is so versatile! You could even do a Alfredo sauce instead of pizza sauce for a white pizza dip!

You could also try cooking this in your crock pot if you’re on the go or pressed for time! Crock pot pizza dip to the rescue!

Bring it as your next Super bowl party snack to “wow” all your guests! I love that it’s easy to make ahead of time and customize with your favourite pizza toppings! Serve this with freshly toasted garlic sourdough bread, breadsticks, homemade pizza dough, tortilla chips, or vegetables.
