WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE BANANA CREAM PIE OATS

There are three essential parts to this easy breakfast recipe: The oats, the banana, and the white chocolate topping. Simple!

Here is everything you need (you can find the exact measurements and nutrition information in the recipe card below):

  • Gluten free rolled oats or quick oats – I usually suggest rolled oats for overnight oats recipe. They tend to be heartier and hold up best to being soaked for longer periods. Quick oats will also do the trick, but I find they get on the soggier side overnight. Using gluten free oats is optional.
  • Unsweetened almond milk – Or other preferred dairy-free milk alternative, like soy milk, oat milk, cashew milk or coconut milk.
  • Chia seeds – These help to thicken the oats and keep them binded together. Plus they are full of healthy fats to help keep you feeling fuller for longer!
  • Maple syrup – This adds just the right amount of sweetness to the oats without any refined sugars.
  • Vanilla protein powder – To give this breakfast recipe an additional boost of satisfying protein with some extra yummy flavor! My favorite protein powder to use is PEScience Gourmet Vanilla (use code BAILEY to save $$ off your next purchase!). You can leave out the protein powder if you prefer to not use.
  • Mashed bananas – Ripe but still firm. You don’t want a banana that is still green, but because it’ll be sitting overnight you also don’t want a overripe bananas and browning.
  • Greek yogurt and white chocolate chips – Together these make a rich, tangy and creamy topping that is irresistible! The Greek yogurt also provides even more protein and gut-healthy probiotics. For a dairy-free and vegan recipe you can use your preferred dairy-free Greek yogurt and vegan friendly chips!
  • Optional – vanilla extract, more sliced banana for topping, almond butter, non-fat greek yogurt, coconut flakes, etc.

ARE OVERNIGHT OATS HEALTHY?

Yes they are! Not only are oats great to help you feel satiated, they are high in fiber, boost metabolism, and even help to reduce blood sugar. Soaking them overnight increases the health benefits by further breaking down the starches, which makes it easier for your stomach to absorb all of the nutrients during digestion.

Adding protein powder and Greek yogurt to the recipe also makes this a high protein breakfast! So you’ll be full and fueled to tackle your entire morning to-do list.

CAN I MAKE OVERNIGHT OATS WITH FROZEN BANANA?

You certainly can. Add frozen banana slices to the oats in your mason jars as you would fresh banana – they’ll thaw in the fridge overnight!

CAN I USE QUICK OATS FOR THESE CREAMY BANANA CREAM PIE OVERNIGHT OATS?

Yes, quick oats are rolled oats are best for protein powder overnight oats. Do not use steel cut oats for any high protein overnight oats recipe.

My favorite brand to use is bob’s red mill.

How do you get the melted chocolate to not turn the cold greek yogurt into a mess of what looks like separated milk ?

    1. Hi Lisa!

Good question! I have tested this ganache with multiple types of white chocolate and I’ve found the Enjoy Life Foods brand of white chocolate chips, or a white chocolate bar tend to melt better. If it gets super clumpy I use a wire whisk to get rid of clumps! And the last tip is not over cooking the white chocolate in the microwave – I always do 30 second intervals to be safe, you should’t need to do it more than 1 minute total!

  2. SO sO good! I made this as soon as you posted it on TikTok. I didn’t use maple syrup because I’d rather less sweet and used unsweetened coconut milk because it was all I had in the fridge. Delicious!
