You can also try my Air Fryer Apple Crisp or my Air Fryer Pineapple if you love apple recipes or an easy air fryer recipe. Some other delicious air fryer snacks would be air fryer banana chips, air fryer beet chips, air fryer carrot chips, or air fryer pita chips.
Apple chips are a crowd favourite that are perfect just about any time of year and are especially tasty as a fall treat. They are perfect on a low calorie diet, and are a quick snack for the entire family when you want something healthy and satisfying!
I promise you, these will be a new family favorite during apple season. They are 20 million times tastier than store-bought apple chips.
Imagine crunchy chips meets fresh apples, that’s the best way to describe these homemade apple chips. The best apples to use are pink lady apples.
Apple chips are a great alternative to a potato chip, the main difference being that these contain vitamins and minerals. You can eat them right out of the container once they are done or serve them with a dip if you choose.
Every grocery store sell bags of pre-made apple chips, and they’re not bad at all. However dehydrated apples in air fryer are just THAT much better.

SIMPLE INGREDIENTS FOR THE EASY AIR FRYER APPLE CHIPS
These crispy apple chips are easily made with every day ingredients you probably have on hand. You will need the following ingredients listed below to make them (the exact measurements, nutritional information and full recipe are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post):
- Apples – any type of apples will work here, but my favorite apples are pink lady, gala apples, fuji apples, honeycrisp apples or red delicious apples. I’d recommend staying away from granny smith apples because this recipe works best with sweet apples.
- Coconut oil – you can use a coconut oil spray for this air fried apple, or coconut oil melted over these will work as well.
- Ground Cinnamon – the more the better. Pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice are also very tasty on these for a fall twist!
- Optional – brown sugar or maple syrup for a sweeter apple chip.
HOW TO MAKE APPLE CHIPS IN JUST MINUTES
- Preheat your air fryer to 300 degrees F.
- Wash and chop your apples into very thin apple slices using a very sharp knife or mandolin slicer. You can cut out the middle or leave it if you prefer. An apple corer would be great for this recipe.
- Spray apple slices with coconut oil and sprinkle with cinnamon. Make sure to get back and front of apple slices.
- Add to air fryer basket in a single layer, trying not to overlap the apple slices too much. Air fry for 12 minutes, then flip the apple and fry for another 10 minutes. Cook time may vary depending on your air fryer.
- Remove and put on plate or cooling rack (they will harden as they sit for 1-2 minutes on the counter).
- Snack on them as you prepare your next apple if you desire. Enjoy your cinnamon apple chips!
TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE THE BEST APPLE SLICES IN AIR FRYER
- Slice the apples as thin as you can. The thinner they are, they better the crunch will be.
- When adding them to the air fryer, ensure they aren’t touching. The more surface area that is exposed, the more crunchy they will be.
- If your apples are softer you may need to add extra cooking time.
- Don’t worry if the slices aren’t the exact same size or perfectly cut. The smaller they are, the quicker they will fry but it’s not necessary for them to all be perfect.
HOW TO STORE THIS AIR FRYER APPLE CHIPS RECIPE
First things first, make sure the apple chips are completely cool before storing them. If they are still cooling off they will let our steam and condensation, which will make them soften in the container they are stored in.
I recommend storing them at room temperature in an airtight container for no more than 3-4 days. You can also use a ziplock bag if you choose.
Keep in mind the air fryer dehydrated apples will soften no matter how they are stored, so ideally you want to make them fresh right before you want to eat them!
FAQS
DO I NEED TO PEEL THE APPLES BEFORE SLICING?
Peeling the apples is optional and depends on your preference. Some people prefer leaving the peels on for added texture and nutrients, while others prefer the smoother texture of peeled chips.
The thick skins can sometimes cause chewiness.
CAN I USE A MANDOLINE SLICER TO CUT THE APPLES?
Yes, a mandoline slicer can be very helpful for achieving consistent and thin slices. Make sure to use the guard and exercise caution to avoid accidentally cutting yourself.
WHAT SPICES ARE BEST TO SEASON THE CRUNCHY APPLE CHIPS?
Cinnamon is a popular spice for seasoning apple chips, but you can also experiment with other spices like nutmeg, ginger, or even a sprinkle of sugar if you prefer a sweeter flavor.
ARE APPLE CHIPS HEALTHY?
For dessert, it doesn’t get much healthier than baked apple in air fryer. I mean, it’s a lot lower in calories and carbs than air fried chips or air fried sweet potato chips.
I consider air fryer apple chips to be the perfect healthy snack! They are a delicious and nutritious snack when you’re feeling peckish.
They are also an easy way to make an after-school snack in a fraction of the time.
