STORING THE LEFTOVER VALENTINE’S DAY DESSERT

To store leftover Valentine’s Day Rice Krispies treats, simply place them in an airtight container or sealable plastic bag. Ensure they are at room temperature and not warm to prevent condensation, which can make them soggy.

Stored this way, they can be kept at room temperature for up to 3-4 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week for optimal freshness.

If you prefer to freeze them, individually wrap the treats in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 1-2 months.

When ready to enjoy, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for a few hours before serving.

FAQS

CAN I USE THIS RECIPE TO MAKE CLASSIC RICE KRISPIE TREATS OR DO THEY HAVE TO BE VALENTINE’S DAY THEMED?

Absolutely! While this recipe is perfect for Valentine’s Day with its festive twist, you can definitely use it to make classic Rice Krispie treats as well.

Simply skip the Valentine’s Day-themed decorations and follow the recipe as usual to enjoy the timeless deliciousness of these crispy, marshmallowy treats any time of the year.

HOW CAN I MAKE THESE VALENTINE TREATS LEVEL?

By using a spatula sprayed with non-stick cooking spray it’s much easier to flatten the marshmallow cereal mixture. Otherwise it’s hard to handle the mixture.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO MELT THE MARSHMALLOWS OVER MEDIUM-LOW HEAT RATHER THAN HIGH HEAT?

Heating the marshmallows on high heat instead of medium-low heat can cause them to melt too quickly and potentially scorch or burn. This can result in a sticky, caramelized mess that may affect the flavor and texture of your Rice Krispie treats.

CAN I USE CANDY MELTS TO DECORATE THE TOPS FOR A PRETTY COLOR?

Absolutely! White chocolate or candy melts both work great.

You can add red food coloring for a pink color if desired.
