HOW TO MAKE THE PEANUT BUTTER OREO COOKIE BALLS

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they turn into fine crumbs. If you don’t have a food processor, pop them in a large ziplock bag and smash them with a rolling pin.
  2. Mix with Peanut Butter: Add the peanut butter to the oreo crumbs in the food processor, then process again.
  3. Roll Into Balls: Scoop about a tablespoon of the dough and roll it into a ball with your hands. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Chill the Balls: Pop the baking sheet in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes. This makes them easier to coat in chocolate and helps them hold their shape.
  5. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.
  6. Dip the Oreo Balls: Using a fork or toothpick, dip each ball into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s fully coated. Tap off any excess chocolate and place the ball back on the parchment paper.
  7. Add Toppings: Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle some crushed peanuts or extra Oreo crumbs on top for a bit of flair.
  8. Chill Again: Pop the tray back in the fridge for about 30 minutes to let the chocolate set.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate is firm, transfer the Oreo balls to a plate and get ready for some sweet, peanut buttery goodness!

STORING LEFTOVER OREO PEANUT BUTTER TRUFFLES

To store leftover Reese’s peanut butter cup balls, place them in an airtight container:

  • In the Fridge: Keep them in the fridge for up to 1 week. This keeps them fresh and maintains that perfectly creamy texture.
  • In the Freezer: For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months. Just let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before enjoying!

Pro tip: Layer them with parchment paper in between to prevent sticking!

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR BEST RESULTS

  • Soften the Cream Cheese: Make sure the cream cheese is softened before mixing—this makes it easier to combine with the Oreos and peanut butter.
  • Use a Cookie Scoop: For evenly sized balls, use a cookie scoop. It keeps everything neat and ensures consistent sizes.
  • Chill the Dough: Freezing the dough balls before dipping them in chocolate helps the coating set faster and gives you a smoother finish.
  • Add More Peanut Butter: If you want a stronger peanut butter flavor, add an extra spoonful or two of peanut butter. The dough can handle it!
  • Switch Up the Toppings: Don’t be afraid to add sprinkles, sea salt, crushed nuts, or even a drizzle of white chocolate on top for some extra pizzazz.

FAQS

HOW DO I GET A SMOOTH CHOCOLATE SHELL?

Melt the candy melts or chocolate in a double boiler or microwave (in 30-second intervals), stirring until smooth. Adding a bit of coconut oil can help create a smoother and shinier shell.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO GET 1-INCH BALLS?

Use a small cookie scoop to ensure even portions. Scoop, roll into 1-inch balls, and place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper to prevent sticking.

CAN I ADD A PEANUT BUTTER DRIZZLE ON TOP?

Absolutely! Melt some peanut butter chips or warm up creamy peanut butter, pour it into a Ziploc bag, snip a small corner, and drizzle over the set Oreo balls. This combo is the ultimate love language for peanut butter fans!

WHY ARE MY PEANUT BUTTER OREO BALLS CRACKING?

If the chocolate shell is cracking, it might be because the balls are too cold when you dip them. Let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before dipping for a smoother finish.

CAN I USE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS OR REESE’S PIECES AS TOPPINGS FOR THE PEANUT BUTTER OREO BALLS?

Yes! Reese’s Pieces, crushed peanut butter cups, or even peanut butter chips make great toppings. They add extra texture and take the flavor to a whole new level.

Notes

I prefer using regular peanut butter for this recipe. If you want to use natural peanut butter, you will have to store your peanut butter balls in the fridge as they will become soft very quickly.

Instead of candy melts you can use 1 cup chocolate chips with 1 tsp coconut oil.
