Ninja Creami cookie dough protein ice cream with chocolate chips in a pint

This one’s for the cookie dough lovers who still want to hit their protein goals without giving up the scoop. A whole pint packs 45g of protein, and it tastes like the cookie dough ice cream you’d order at the shop.

Ninja Creami cookie dough protein ice cream is a high-protein frozen dessert made by blending a protein-rich milk base, freezing it solid, spinning it in the Ninja Creami, then folding in edible cookie dough and chocolate chips. The Creami is what gets it scoopable and soft-serve creamy instead of an icy protein brick.

My version is rich and creamy with little bites of cookie dough in every spoonful, and it tastes even better knowing you made it at home in your pajamas.

Why You’ll Love This Protein Ice Cream

  • A full pint has 45g of protein, so it fits your macros instead of wrecking them.
  • The Ninja Creami gets it creamy and scoopable, not the icy texture protein ice cream usually has.
  • Real edible cookie dough bites in every spoonful, so it eats like the shop version.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Full measurements and the nutrition breakdown are in the recipe card below. Here’s what each piece does.

  • Fairlife 2% milk: the creamy, high-protein base, with 14g of protein per serving. Any milk works, but Fairlife adds protein without extra sugar.
  • Unsweetened almond milk: lightens the base. Any unsweetened nut or oat milk works.
  • Vanilla protein powder: the protein boost. I use PEScience Gourmet Vanilla protein powder, code BAILEY for a discount.
  • Instant vanilla pudding mix: keeps it smooth and cuts the ice crystals. Guar gum works instead.
  • Brown sugar: sweetens. Brown monk fruit works too.
  • Powdered peanut butter: PB Fit is my favorite, PB2 also works.
  • Vanilla extract and butter extract: the butter extract is what makes it taste like cookie dough.
  • Pinch of salt
  • Edible cookie dough bites: use the safe-to-eat kind, or chop up a cookie dough protein bar. Brownie dough works too.
  • Chocolate chips: unsweetened, milk, or dark.

How to Make Ninja Creami Cookie Dough Protein Ice Cream

  1. Add all ingredients except the cookie dough and chocolate chips to the Ninja Creami pint container, up to the max fill line, and mix well with a hand frother.
  2. Freeze the container flat for 24 hours, until frozen solid.
  3. Remove the frozen pint, run it under hot water for about 60 seconds, and install it in your machine. Keep the surface level so it doesn’t damage the blade.
  4. For the first spin, press the Lite Ice Cream button. If it comes out powdery, press respin.
  5. Check the texture. It should be creamy and smooth. If it isn’t there yet, add a splash more liquid and respin.
  6. Add the cookie dough bites and chocolate chips and run the Mix-In button.

Tips and Tricks

  • Flatten the top of the pint before freezing so the blade doesn’t catch.
  • Let it freeze the full 24 hours for a good first spin.
  • Use real edible cookie dough, or chop up a protein bar for a quick version.
  • Don’t skip the butter extract. It’s what makes this taste like the real thing.

Ninja Creami Cookie Dough Protein Ice Cream FAQ

How much protein is in this cookie dough protein ice cream? A full pint has about 45g of protein, depending on your protein powder. The Fairlife milk and protein powder do most of the work.

Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream powdery? A powdery or crumbly first spin is normal. Press respin, and if it’s still dry, add a splash of milk and spin again until it’s creamy.

Do you need protein powder to make it? The protein powder is what makes it high-protein and helps the texture. You can leave it out, but you’ll lose most of the protein and it’ll taste more like regular light ice cream.

Can you eat it straight from the freezer? It’s best right after you spin and mix in the cookie dough. If it refreezes hard, run the pint through a respin to get it scoopable again.

Is the cookie dough safe to eat? Use edible cookie dough made without eggs and with heat-treated flour, or a cookie dough protein bar. Skip regular cookie dough that’s meant to be baked.

You don't necessarily have to wait the full 24 hours of freezing time. Yes, waiting the full 24 hours will give you the best, most consistent results. But if you only froze it for 12-16 hours and youโ€™re desperate for a frozen treat, youโ€™re not out of luck. Skip the respin button and instead, hit the Mix-Ins button after the Lite Ice Cream cycle. This prevents the ice cream from getting overworked and soupy, which can happen when the base hasnโ€™t fully solidified.
If your ice cream comes out powdery or crumbly after the first spin, instead of immediately reaching for the milk, try hitting the respin button first. More often than not, thatโ€™s all you need to get it creamy.
I always pre-chop or crush your mix-ins ahead of time.
