A cookies and cream Ninja Creami protein ice cream is a high-protein homemade ice cream made with Fairlife milk, cookies and cream protein powder, vanilla pudding mix, and Oreo thins. One pint packs 40g of protein and 378 calories โ€” and tastes like real cookies and cream, not a sad protein experiment.

This is one of the most-requested recipes on my blog and it’s the one I make every Sunday for the week ahead. The pudding mix is the trick that stops protein ice cream from going icy, and Oreo thins give you more cookie chunks per bite with fewer calories than regular Oreos.

Ingredients You’ll Need

(Full measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.)

  • Fairlife 2% milk โ€” this is what pushes the protein up to 40g without adding calories. Fairlife is ultra-filtered and has 14g of protein per cup. Skim or whole Fairlife works too โ€” higher fat = creamier ice cream.
  • Unsweetened almond milk โ€” keeps the calorie count balanced. Oat milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk also work.
  • Cookies and cream protein powder โ€” I use 1UP Nutrition Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Protein Powder (code BAILS saves 20% on everything). Any cookies and cream whey works. If you only have vanilla protein powder, that works too โ€” just add an extra crushed Oreo to compensate for the flavor.
  • Vanilla instant pudding mix โ€” the secret to creamy, not icy. Sugar-free works the same. Only need 1 tbsp.
  • Oreo thins โ€” fewer calories than regular Oreos and you get more pieces per serving. Regular Oreos, Golden Oreos, gluten-free Oreos, or mint Oreos all work as swaps.

How to Make Cookies and Cream Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

  1. Add everything except the Oreos to the pint. Combine the Fairlife milk, almond milk, protein powder, and pudding mix in the Ninja Creami pint up to the max fill line.
  2. Mix until smooth. Use a handheld milk frother (or immersion blender) to fully combine. Any protein powder clumps will mess with the texture, so don’t rush this step.
  3. Freeze 24 hours. Keep the pint flat in your freezer. A domed top can damage the blade.
  4. Run under hot water. Once frozen solid, run the outside of the pint under hot water for 60โ€“90 seconds before loading into the machine.
  5. First spin: Lite Ice Cream. The first spin almost always comes out powdery โ€” that’s normal.
  6. Re-spin. Hit Re-spin. This is where the texture goes silky. Re-spin again if needed.
  7. Add Oreos and mix in. Make a hole in the center, drop in the crushed Oreo thins, and hit the Mix-In button. Scoop and eat.

Tips for the Best Texture

  1. Always re-spin if it looks crumbly. First spin = powdery. Second spin = creamy. Don’t add liquid and panic โ€” re-spin first.
  2. Use Fairlife. Regular milk works, but Fairlife is what unlocks the 40g of protein per pint with the creamy texture intact.
  3. Don’t overfill. Stay below the max fill line. Overfilling = mess + ruined texture.
  4. Pre-chop your Oreos. Break them into small pieces before using the Mix-In button so they distribute evenly through the pint instead of clumping at the bottom.
  5. Short on time? Skip the wait, change the buttons. If you only froze 12โ€“16 hours, skip Re-spin entirely. After Lite Ice Cream, go straight to Mix-In. This stops a half-frozen base from getting overworked and turning into a soupy mess.

Mix-In Variations

  • Mint cookies and cream: Use mint Oreos and add a drop of mint extract before freezing
  • Golden cookies and cream: Swap Oreo thins for Golden Oreo thins for a vanilla-on-vanilla version
  • Chocolate cookies and cream: Use chocolate protein powder and regular Oreos
  • Cookie dough cookies and cream: Add 1 tbsp of edible cookie dough chunks alongside the Oreos
  • Gluten-free: Use gluten-free Oreos โ€” same flavor, same texture
  • Dairy-free: Swap Fairlife for full coconut milk and use a plant-based protein powder. Texture will be slightly less creamy but still really good.

How to Store and Re-Spin Leftovers

If you don’t finish the full pint (it’s a lot of ice cream):

  • Smooth the top flat with the back of a spoon โ€” a domed top can damage the blade when you re-spin
  • Pop the lid on and refreeze for at least 4 hours
  • When you’re ready: run under hot water 60 seconds, hit Lite Ice Cream, re-spin as needed

One thing to know โ€” re-spinning after Oreos are already mixed in will pulverize the cookie chunks. The flavor stays the same but you lose the texture. If that matters to you, add a fresh Oreo or two on the second mix-in spin.

My favorite protein for this is 1UP Nutrition Cookies And Cream Ice Cream Protein Powder – use code BAILS at checkout to save 20% on everything.
You can use Fairlife skim milk in this recipe instead. Keep in mind the higher in fat the milk = richer, smoother, dreamier ice cream.
You don't necessarily have to wait the full 24 hours of freezing time. Yes, waiting the full 24 hours will give you the best, most consistent results. But if you only froze it for 12-16 hours and youโ€™re desperate for a frozen treat, youโ€™re not out of luck. Skip the respin button and instead, hit the Mix-Ins button after the Lite Ice Cream cycle. This prevents the ice cream from getting overworked and soupy, which can happen when the base hasnโ€™t fully solidified.
If your ice cream comes out powdery or crumbly after the first spin, instead of immediately reaching for the milk, try hitting the respin button first. More often than not, thatโ€™s all you need to get it creamy.
I always pre-chop or crush your mix-ins ahead of time.

  1. Hi! Thanks for sharing this recipe – curious, why are you using two types of milk? Is there any benefit to that?

    1. Hi Sema,

I use the Fairlife skim for added protein, and the unsweetened almond milk for lower calories! Depending on your nutrition goals, you can use more or less of either, or omit one of them all together! Just my preference!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This recipe was so delicious ๐Ÿคค I did put more mini Oreos than posted.
