High protein Ninja Creami frozen yogurt with sprinkles

The froyo shop, but high-protein and made in one pint at home. This has that classic tangy frozen yogurt flavor with a creamy, scoopable texture, and the Greek yogurt plus protein powder means it actually keeps you full.

Ninja Creami frozen yogurt is a high-protein frozen dessert made by stirring Greek yogurt with protein powder, a little sweetener, and pudding mix, freezing it for 24 hours, then spinning it in the Ninja Creami until creamy. The Greek yogurt brings the protein and that signature froyo tang, and the pudding mix gives it a smooth, ice-cream-like texture instead of an icy one.

Since the yogurt is the main ingredient, this tastes like whatever yogurt you start with, so use a Greek yogurt you actually love. From there it’s a blank base for any flavor or mix-in you want.

Ingredients You Need

  • Plain Greek yogurt โ€” the high-protein, tangy base and the main flavor. Use a thick Greek yogurt you enjoy on its own, since its flavor carries straight through to the froyo.
  • Vanilla protein powder โ€” boosts the protein and adds a little sweetness and vanilla flavor. PEScience Gourmet Vanilla is my go-to, code BAILEY saves you a bit.
  • Honey โ€” for natural sweetness that also smooths the texture. Maple syrup, agave, or a granulated sweetener all work.
  • Sugar-free vanilla pudding mix โ€” the trick to a silky, scoopable texture instead of an icy one.
  • Vanilla extract โ€” rounds out the flavor and softens the yogurt tang.
  • Pinch of salt โ€” pulls all the flavors together.

How to Make Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt

  1. Add the Greek yogurt, protein powder, honey, pudding mix, vanilla, and salt to your Ninja Creami pint. Stir until fully combined and smooth, staying below the max fill line.
  2. Cover and freeze flat for 24 hours, until solid all the way through.
  3. Take the pint out and run the outside under hot water for 60 to 90 seconds. Make sure the top is level to protect the blade.
  4. Lock the pint into the machine and press Lite Ice Cream (or the Frozen Yogurt setting if your machine has one) for the first spin.
  5. If it looks powdery or crumbly, add a tablespoon of milk and press Re-Spin. Lower-fat bases like this often need one or two re-spins to get fully creamy.
  6. For mix-ins, dig a well in the center, add them, and press Mix-In. Then scoop and enjoy.

Tips for the Creamiest Frozen Yogurt

Start with a Greek yogurt you love. Its flavor comes through completely in the finished froyo, so a yogurt you enjoy plain makes a better dessert than one you don’t.

Don’t overfill the pint. Frozen yogurt expands a little as it spins, so keep it at or below the max fill line, and don’t worry if the pint doesn’t look completely full going in.

Freeze the pint dead level for the full 24 hours. A tilted pint freezes uneven, and a base that isn’t frozen solid spins up soft and soupy instead of creamy.

Plan on re-spinning. Powdery and crumbly after the first spin is completely normal, that spin just breaks everything up. The combination that almost always works is one spin, then a tablespoon of milk, then one re-spin.

If it comes out too soft, like a melty Frosty, the base either didn’t freeze long enough or got too much liquid during a re-spin. Freeze longer next time and add liquid a teaspoon at a time.

Variations and Mix-Ins

Strawberry or mixed berry โ€” blend in a handful of berries with the base for a fruity froyo. If using frozen berries, thaw and mash them first.

Mango โ€” blend in fresh ripe mango for a bright, tropical version.

Lemon โ€” add lemon juice and a little zest for a tangy citrus froyo.

Chocolate โ€” stir a tablespoon of cocoa powder into the base, or use chocolate protein powder.

Mix-ins โ€” fold in chocolate chips, crushed cookies, granola, or fresh fruit with the Mix-In button for that froyo-shop experience.

How to Store

Store leftovers right in the Ninja Creami pint with the lid on, and smooth the top flat with a spoon before it goes back in the freezer. It’s best within 3 to 5 days.

When you want more, it will have frozen solid again, so run the pint under hot water and re-spin (add a splash of milk if needed) to bring back the creamy texture.

Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt FAQ

Can I use flavored Greek yogurt instead of plain? Yes. Flavored Greek yogurt works great and adds its own flavor, just skip or reduce the honey since flavored yogurts already have added sugar. Check the sugar content if you’re keeping it lower-sugar.

Can I make this without protein powder? Yes. Greek yogurt is already high in protein, so the froyo is still a high-protein treat without it. Add a little more sweetener and a splash of milk to make up the volume and balance the tang.

Can I add fresh or frozen fruit? Yes. Blend fresh fruit right into the base before freezing for a fruity froyo. If you’re using frozen fruit, thaw and mash it first, since the Creami blade isn’t made to handle solid frozen chunks.
