Ninja Creami Strawberry Ice Cream (35g Protein)

This Ninja Creami strawberry ice cream is made with Fairlife milk, frozen strawberries, vanilla protein powder, and sugar-free pudding mix โ€” creamy, scoopable, and packing 35 grams of protein for the entire pint.

Store-bought strawberry ice cream is fine. Paying $8 for a pint that has less protein than a hard-boiled egg is not.

This Ninja Creami strawberry ice cream uses real frozen strawberries, Fairlife milk, and vanilla protein powder for a genuinely creamy, scoopable ice cream that tastes like the real thing and has 35 grams of protein per pint. The vanilla pudding mix is the secret โ€” it prevents ice crystals from forming and gives you that silky, smooth texture without needing heavy cream or lots of fat.

I’ve tested this with both fresh and frozen strawberries. Frozen wins every time โ€” the texture comes out more consistent and the flavor is more concentrated.

Ingredients You’ll Need

(Full measurements are in the recipe card below.)

  • Fairlife 2% milk โ€” the protein-packed base. Fairlife has 13g protein per cup which is significantly more than regular milk. Can’t find Fairlife? Use a chocolate or vanilla protein shake and omit the protein powder, or use whole milk and add extra protein powder.
  • Unsweetened almond milk โ€” adds volume without adding many calories. Any milk alternative works โ€” oat milk, coconut milk, or just more Fairlife if you want maximum creaminess and protein.
  • Frozen strawberries โ€” the star. Frozen strawberries are preferred over fresh because they blend smoother and give a more concentrated flavor. Let them thaw slightly before blending if your blender isn’t high-powered. Fresh strawberries work too โ€” chop them small so they blend completely smooth.
  • Vanilla protein powder โ€” adds the protein punch. PEScience Gourmet Vanilla is my go-to (code BAILEY for a discount). Strawberry protein powder works if you want an even more intense strawberry flavor.
  • Sugar-free vanilla pudding mix โ€” the texture secret. The modified starches in instant pudding mix bind to the water in the base, prevent large ice crystals from forming, and give you that scoopable, creamy consistency without heavy cream. Don’t prepare it โ€” just stir the dry powder straight in.
  • Optional: vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, monk fruit sweetener to taste.

How to Make Ninja Creami Strawberry Ice Cream

  1. Blend everything smooth. Add the Fairlife milk, almond milk, frozen strawberries, protein powder, and pudding mix powder to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth โ€” no strawberry chunks, no lumps of powder. A fully smooth blend is critical for a creamy final texture.
  2. Pour into the Ninja Creami pint. Transfer the blended mixture to your pint container. Do not exceed the max fill line.
  3. Freeze for 24 hours. Place on a flat, level surface. Level freezing = even texture.
  4. Warm the pint before spinning. Run the outside of the frozen pint under warm water for 30โ€“45 seconds. Listen for a faint cracking sound โ€” that’s the ice cream separating from the sides of the container, which means it’s ready. This makes processing smoother and easier on the machine.
  5. Spin on Lite Ice Cream. Install and press the Lite Ice Cream button. Let the full cycle run without interrupting it.
  6. Respin if needed. If the ice cream looks powdery or crumbly after the first spin, add 1 tablespoon of milk to the center and press Respin. Repeat once more if needed. The final texture should be smooth, creamy, and scoopable.

The pudding mix is your texture insurance. It’s not just for sweetness โ€” the modified starches prevent ice crystals and give you a scoopable texture without heavy cream. Don’t skip it, and don’t prepare it first โ€” add it as dry powder directly to the blender.

Wait for the crack. When running the frozen pint under warm water, wait until you hear it crack slightly. That sound means the ice cream has separated from the sides and your machine won’t have to work as hard โ€” better texture every time.

Blend until truly smooth. Any strawberry chunks left in the base will create uneven texture after freezing and processing. A full 60-second blend on high speed is worth it.

Mix-Ins and Toppings

Straight from the Ninja Creami it’s already great โ€” but here’s what takes it to the next level:

  • Strawberry shortcake โ€” after spinning, create a well in the center and add crushed graham crackers or vanilla wafers. Hit Mix-In button. Tastes like a Dairy Queen strawberry shortcake.
  • Fresh strawberry slices on top with a drizzle of honey
  • Mini chocolate chips โ€” chocolate-covered strawberry vibes
  • A swirl of strawberry jam pushed into the center before the Mix-In setting
  • Granola for crunch

Variations

  1. Dairy-free โ€” swap Fairlife for full-fat canned coconut milk and almond milk. Use plant-based protein powder. Creamier than you’d expect.
  2. Strawberry cheesecake โ€” use sugar-free cheesecake pudding mix instead of vanilla, and add 2 tablespoons of light cream cheese to the blender. Mix in graham cracker crumbs at the end.
  3. Fresh strawberry version โ€” use fresh strawberries instead of frozen. Chop very finely and blend completely smooth. The flavor is slightly lighter but still excellent.
  4. Extra protein โ€” swap the almond milk for more Fairlife milk and add a second half-scoop of protein powder. Pushes protein to 45g+ per pint.

Store the spun ice cream in the Ninja Creami pint with the lid on in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. When ready to eat again, let it sit on the counter for 5โ€“10 minutes, then respin on the Respin setting. For best results, enjoy within 3 days of spinning โ€” the strawberry flavor is freshest early on.

Notes

Can use code BAILEY at checkout on all PEScience products such as the Gourmet Vanilla protein powder.
You can use Fairlife skim milk in this recipe instead. Keep in mind the higher in fat the milk = richer, smoother, dreamier ice cream.
You don't necessarily have to wait the full 24 hours of freezing time. Yes, waiting the full 24 hours will give you the best, most consistent results. But if you only froze it for 12-16 hours and youโ€™re desperate for a frozen treat, youโ€™re not out of luck. Skip the respin button and instead, hit the Mix-Ins button after the Lite Ice Cream cycle. This prevents the ice cream from getting overworked and soupy, which can happen when the base hasnโ€™t fully solidified.
If your ice cream comes out powdery or crumbly after the first spin, instead of immediately reaching for the milk, try hitting the respin button first. More often than not, thatโ€™s all you need to get it creamy.
I always pre-chop or crush your mix-ins ahead of time.
